Legend has it that during the 15th century, four thieves raided the homes of plague victims. The authorities assumed that the thieves would catch the plague themselves so did little to stop them. However, they were protected by a powerful herbal concoction made up of herbs that we now know possess strong antibacterial and antiviral healing properties, and so would have protected them the deadly disease.
